ABOUT THE PROJECT
Quizduel (Quizkampen in Sweden) was a massive trivia hit, and Quizduel 2 was envisioned as its next evolution. I joined as Lead Product Designer, responsible for the overall visual identity, UI, game experience, as well as in-engine animations and visual effects.
Some projects never get to see the light of day…
Although Quizduel 2 was shaping up to be a worthy successor, the project was unfortunately cancelled during an acquisition of the studio behind Quizkampen before launch. Even so, it remains a favorite project of mine for the scope, creativity, and polish we achieved.
More and better!
The core gameplay from Quizduel was reimagined with a cleaner, more modern interface and expanded with new features. Ranking leagues, player statistics, daily challenges, quests, and fresh question types all aimed to make the experience richer and more engaging.
New question types
Beyond the classic multiple-choice format, I designed and implemented several new question types to keep the gameplay dynamic, varied, and fun, offering players new ways to test their knowledge.
Express yourself
Customization became much more capable compared to its predecessor. Players could unlock and combine hundreds of unique avatar pieces to show off their personality. A redesigned chat system also made sure conversations flowed seamlessly, no matter where you were in the app.
Rewarding players
To keep retention high, we introduced collectible gift packages that rewarded players with new avatar items. This mechanic turned progression into a playful, visual experience while reinforcing engagement over time.
